planning a walking programmeFor the first month you should do no more than think about increasing the frequency of your walking. To get started, look for a time slot which you can keep sacred in your daily schedule that allows you to get out and do some walking, even if it's only 15 minutes to start with. The idea is to build up a habit. Start with three days each week. Slowly build up by adding an extra day so that in four weeks' time you are regularly managing five or six sessions a week of at least 15 minutes. Your next goal will be to extend some of the sessions to 30 minutes, but worry about that later. Right now, concentrate on grabbing that time in the day for yourself and your walk.
